Warranty Policy

Effective Date: November 1, 2025

At Sonoma Restorations, every product is crafted from authentic reclaimed materials and built with care. Because our work blends artisan techniques with natural, upcycled wood and metal, each piece carries its own character—and we stand behind the quality of each one.

This Warranty Policy explains what is covered, what is excluded, and how we support you if something goes wrong.

1. What’s Covered

Indoor Products — 5-Year Limited Warranty

All indoor furniture, lighting, shelving, and home-accent products are protected by a 5-Year Limited Warranty covering the primary wood and metal structure under normal residential use.

Coverage includes:

  • Structural defects
  • Craftsmanship defects that affect function
  • Electrical failures in lighting (wiring, sockets, switches) when properly installed

Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser, beginning on the delivery date.

Outdoor Products — 1-Year Limited Warranty

Outdoor furniture is protected by a 1-Year Limited Warranty on structural components under normal residential use.

Why a shorter term?

Outdoor pieces endure significantly harsher conditions. Sun, UV exposure, moisture, temperature swings, snow, and the natural weathering of reclaimed wood all accelerate aging—faster than any finish can fully prevent.

We set clear, honest expectations:

  • Outdoor pieces are engineered to last for years, but reclaimed white oak naturally weathers outdoors, and environmental exposure accelerates wear in ways no manufacturer can fully warranty.
  • Marine spar varnish will break down over time when exposed to sunlight, rain, and temperature cycles—especially in direct sun or freezing conditions.
  • Reapplying varnish is simple and strongly recommended to maintain protection.
  • Inspect periodically. If the finish dulls, checks, or begins absorbing moisture, apply a fresh coat of any locally available marine spar varnish.

2. Damage Upon Arrival

If your item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect due to our mistake:

  • We cover all shipping costs
  • We repair or replace the item at no cost
  • We handle all carrier claims internally

Shipping damage must be reported within 5 calendar days of delivery so we can file required claims with the carrier.

3. Weight Limits & Intended Use

  • Each product lists its specific weight capacity on the product page or included documentation.
  • Using products above stated limits—or in commercial, rental, or improper environments—voids the warranty and may result in damage or injury.

4. Lighting Safety & Compliance

  • All electrical components are UL-certified.
  • Because fixtures are handcrafted, full assembled units are not UL-listed.
  • Hardwired fixtures must be installed by a licensed electrician.
  • Improper installation voids electrical coverage.

5. What’s Not Covered (Exclusions)

Material Variability

Our products are made from reclaimed and upcycled materials; natural variation is inherent and expected. Differences in color, grain, patina, markings, winery/distillery stamps, or surface texture are not defects. Product photos serve as design references only.

Environmental Damage

Reclaimed wood is durable, but certain environmental exposures fall outside reasonable warranty coverage. The following are not covered:

  • Warping, cracking, or splitting caused by moisture exposure followed by freezing temperatures
  • Accelerated finish breakdown from extreme heat or prolonged direct UV exposure
  • Rot or structural failure resulting from sitting in standing or pooling water

Mold & Mildew

Mold, mildew, fungal growth, or any moisture-related staining or deterioration are not covered, as these stem from environmental conditions or storage—not defects.

Normal Wear & Tear

The following are expected aging characteristics and are not covered:

  • Surface scratches, abrasions, or marks from everyday use
  • Sun fading (including natural fading of wine-stained red tones or char)
  • Weathering, patina development, or finish changes over time
  • Drying, checking, warping, or cracking from sun, heat, or moisture cycles

Improper Use or Installation

The warranty does not apply to:

  • Exceeding weight limits
  • Commercial or rental use
  • Improper care, maintenance, or storage
  • Modifications or unauthorized repairs
  • Hardwired lighting not installed by a licensed electrician

6. Filing a Warranty Claim

To initiate a claim, email support@sonomarestorations.com with:

  1. Order number
  2. Photos clearly showing the issue
  3. Description of the problem
  4. Installation method (if applicable)

If approved, we may repair, replace, or refund the product value at our discretion. If original materials are unavailable, substitutes of equal or greater quality may be used.

7. Limits & Legal Terms

  • Warranty is non-transferable
  • Maximum liability is the original purchase price
  • Sonoma Restorations is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages
  • No dealer, reseller, or representative may modify this warranty
  • State-specific consumer rights may vary

Our Commitment

We create products meant to be lived with—used, enjoyed, and appreciated for years. This warranty reflects our commitment to craftsmanship while setting clear expectations for reclaimed materials, especially in outdoor environments.
