Returns & Exchanges

At Sonoma Restorations, we stand behind the craftsmanship of every reclaimed piece we build. If something isn’t right, we’ll work with you to make it right. Below are the details of how returns and exchanges work so you know exactly what to expect.
1. Eligibility for Returns
If you’re not fully satisfied with your order, you may request a return within 60 days of the order date.
We’re happy to accept returns when items are:
- In original, unused condition
- In original packaging
- Not custom-made or marked “Final Sale”
Items that show signs of use, installation, or modification may be subject to a restocking fee or deemed ineligible for return.
2. Initiating a Return
We’ve made the process simple:
- Email support@sonomarestorations.com with your order number and reason for return (photos help us speed things up).
- We’ll review your request and confirm eligibility.
- Approved returns receive a Return Authorization (RA) number plus instructions for shipping.
3. Return Shipping
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, we take care of everything — we cover all return shipping, replacement, and associated costs.
For buyer’s remorse returns (change of mind, size, preference):
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.
- We recommend a trackable, insured carrier, as we cannot cover items lost or damaged in return transit.
This structure helps us keep prices fair for everyone while still protecting you when issues are our responsibility.
4. Restocking Fee
We only apply restocking fees when an item has been opened or used, and only to cover the real cost of inspection, cleaning, and repackaging.
Condition of Item → Restocking Fee
- New, unopened condition: 0%
- Opened but unused: 10% of item price
- Used, damaged, or incomplete: 25% of item price
Restocking Fee Waivers
- Store Credit or Exchange: Fee waived
- Our error or a defective product: Fee waived + return shipping covered
5. Refund Process
Once we receive and inspect your return:
- Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days
- Funds return to the original payment method
- Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable
Please allow additional time for your bank or card provider to process the refund back to your account.
6. Damaged or Defective Products
We want to fix issues quickly.
To ensure we can file a carrier claim and replace your item:
- Report any visible damage or defects within 5 calendar days of delivery
Missing this window may limit our ability to provide a replacement at no cost.
7. Exceptions & Material Expectations
Because our products are made from authentic reclaimed materials, natural variations and minor imperfections are part of the story — not defects.
Examples not eligible for return:
- Natural color or grain variation
- Patina differences
- Minor surface marks inherent to reclaimed materials
- Items purchased during clearance or promotional “Final Sale” events
- Custom-built items
8. Policy Updates
Sonoma Restorations may update this Return Policy as needed. Any changes will apply to orders placed after the new effective date.
